The Final Stretch

I am starting to put together my presentation and I have a few questions. I am wondering about the format of the presentation. Is it supposed to be similar to a speech? I am confused about what exactly final assignment is. I am planning to write a presentation to my targets about why my plan will be beneficial to the program. I am going to be writing two speeches to be included in my presentation. One speech will be directed toward parents as they are the targets for my short-term goal. The second speech will be directed toward the program directors and upper management as they are the target for my long term goal.

If it is not supposed to be a speech but rather a report of my findings, my message statements, and my ideas of why my plan is needed, I am thinking the final should be more of a paper. Can anyone tell me where I can find the details for the final assignment? I have looked through the course but I seem to be looking right past it because I am still really unsure about what I should be doing.

My action plan focuses on parent education in regards to childhood nutrition. I have been using CookingMatters as a focal point for my education. (Share our strength, 1993) It is a program that offers education on how to cook nutritious foods on a budget. The program has also branched out and created ShoppingMatters. This program teaches low-income families how to shop healthy on food stamps and tight budgets.(Share our strength, 1993) The program I hope to affect with my action plan is Head Start and all their families are low-income so this resource has been a huge help.

  1. Your final presentation can be a speech or other. It is up to you and how you feel it is best to approach your target audience. I plan to give a brief summary of my advocacy efforts regarding the importance of arts within the curriculum then proving it by having them observe a lesson plan that I give to children/students.

I hope that helps. Good luck. We are almost there. :)

  4. Emily,
I want to say thank you for your feedback about my advocacy plan. I am glad to hear that you will be using literacy bags in the near future in your program. I am also glad to know that some of my colleagues believe that this will help educators find new ways of getting the parent involved in their child's education. I would like for my colleagues to share some of their feedback once they have used the literacy bags and how it has helped them become better teachers.
